RE
The purpose of Religious Education (RE) is to develop religious literacy, enabling our pupils to engage confidently and respectfully in discussions and debates about religions and worldviews. Through this, they grow in understanding and appreciation of their own beliefs as well as those of others. In line with British Values, RE fosters tolerance, respect, and empathy—key attributes in shaping well-rounded individuals prepared to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world.
At our school, we follow the LDBS curriculum, which actively encourages this inclusive and enquiry-based approach to learning. As a Church of England school, we are held accountable through the LDBS and SIAMS inspections to ensure that the RE we provide is of high quality, allowing all pupils to flourish intellectually, spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally.
Central to our vision is the principle of inclusion. By exploring Christianity alongside a wide range of world faiths and worldviews, we aim to equip pupils with the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to understand and respect different perspectives. This inclusive approach reflects our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who can navigate complex ideas with openness and integrity.
Our RE provision is further supported by our carefully designed Curriculum Drivers, developed collaboratively by staff to ensure that all children have access to enriching experiences. These drivers promote independence, high aspirations, critical reasoning, and the opportunity to deepen their sense of faith, wherever it may be rooted.
